This system automatically adjusts the charge current continuously to an optimum level for the individual battery it is connected to. This is done within the selected limit, based on the battery's state of charge, operating status and electricity storage capacity (ampere hours). For example, if the incorrectly selected current is 4 amps for a battery with a nominal capacity of only 4 ampere hours (and without an internal short circuit), the ampmatic microprocessor automatically and continuously adjusts the current to any low level optimal for the battery's electrical characteristics. Output Selections: NEW / 2 / 4 Amp: The NEW selection is specifically intended for the essential first charge of new AGM MF motorcycle batteries, as well as more traditional batteries. Selecting NEW skips the special recovery mode phases and the program directly starts the charging, pulse absorption and charge control phases, limited to 60 minutes in total. For charging other than new batteries, the charger's selection table provides appropriate 2 amp and 4 amp selections, governed by the ampmatic microprocessor, which automatically achieves the fastest optimum charge for any battery connected. * The output circuit is initialized for any battery, maintaining at least 1.8V. The output is deactivated if a battery connection is not detected. * An automatic check indicates any cell short circuits (red LED) 10 minutes after activation. * Automatic detection of deeply discharged (sulfated) batteries + 3-stage soft recovery mode. * The Ampmatic microprocessor-regulated constant current optimally charges the battery in a very short time. * Timed absorption and pulse check phases complete the charge and help re-equalize the cell voltages, ensuring an optimum charge is achieved prior to the test cycle. * After checking for the best possible charge, surface tension is eliminated while a timed test checks for over-discharge, with 5 possible results displayed on 3 LEDs. * If the initial test result is GOOD, the test is automatically extended for 12 hours to check the initial result. * The 30-minute floating hourly maintenance charge keeps the battery at a steady charge.
