The OptiMateTM Lithium 0.8A maintainer provides optimal protection for LiFePO4 batteries. The new OptiMate Lithium 0.8A will protect your investment and ensure the performance of your lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4/LFP) batteries, which will perform at their best for a long time. OptiMate Lithium 0.8A features a specific program for LiFePO4 batteries that allows you to charge and balance the cells safely and efficiently. The OptiMate Lithium 0.8A maintenance program delivers current to the vehicle circuits, protecting the battery and keeping it fully charged. OptiMate Lithium 0.8A – Guaranteed performance batteries! Operation 1. Prequalification/BMS reset: the charging program is selected based on the battery voltage. If the battery is equipped with a Battery Management System (BMS) that includes a minimum voltage switch, connect the OptiMate Lithium to the battery, then disconnect and reconnect the AC power cord to the mains. The BMS reset program will attempt to restore the correct cell polarity so that the charging process can begin. 2. Low Voltage Recovery: The OptiMate recovery mode controls the charge during the safety phase to ensure that all deeply discharged batteries are recovered correctly and safely. Tests are conducted throughout the RECOVERY program to determine if the battery has been successfully recovered and can proceed to the MAIN CHARGE phase. 3. Bulk Charge: A constant current of 800 mA is delivered until the voltage rises to 14.3 V. 4. Short Circuit/Dead Cell Check: The charging progress is compared to the ideal LiFePO4 battery charging curve. Internal damage is detected and batteries that cannot be recovered are excluded from the charging process. 5. Absorption and Equalization: Current is delivered in pulses with a controlled voltage between 14.0 and 14.3 V for 4 hours, helping to equalize the cell voltage and improving the battery's power output. 6. Voltage Maintenance Test: The test is conducted for 12 hours during which no charging current is delivered. The test can end with 3 different results: good battery, excessive natural discharge or greater than expected power loss through the vehicle's electrical system. 7. Maintenance Charge: The MAINTENANCE CHARGING CYCLE consists of 30 minute floating charge periods at a voltage of 13.6V followed by and alternating with 30 minute ‘rest’ periods (no charging current). During floating charge periods, current is only supplied if the battery has lost some charge due to connection to the vehicle circuits. If the charge level drops dramatically, a recovery cycle can be performed. The alternating charge and ‘rest’ maintenance program prevents excessive discharge of the battery by the vehicle circuits connected to it, making it ideal for long-term maintenance in complete safety.
