High-end 5-disc clutch for Vespa Smallframes. Can be used in both original and other crankcases. Just like Falc, Quattrini and the like, BFA lives by the old-fashioned race-on-Sunday-sale-on-Monday concept. The three letters stand for tuning guru Fabio Begani, Renato Fancellu and ET3 Mastermind Alessandro Graiani. Strictly speaking, that would be all the information you need; and a simple fact: these guys don't do things by halves. They themselves, and the riders they support, are regulars on the podium of all Italian racing series, be it VPI (Vespa Pista Italia), CIA (Campionata Italiano Accelerazione) or POLINI Cup. BFA Smallframes had the most powerful Vespas at the 2013 custom show, pumping out a whopping 48 BHP on the dyno. That kind of power doesn't happen overnight and requires the right components to happen at all... 5 Plate Complete with Basket and Cushions Optional "Square" Mounting on Input Shaft The BFA clutch sits firmly at the top end of what's possible, even in the world of superpower tuning setups. Every single clutch component is CNC machined from billet in exclusive small batches. The clutch's aluminum base plate has seats for up to 16 strong springs (8 large and eight small), eight heavy-duty springs are included in the set. The design is inspired by the proven Vespa PK XL2 concept; it uses four or five carbon plates of a special compound and aluminum plates in between. Aluminum's coefficient of friction is higher than steel and it moves heat much better than steel. So you get maximum surface area and friction to reliably transfer the engine's torque to the rear wheel. The friction plates feature oil channels that improve oil flow in the clutch to better cope with heat, they are thin and non-compressible, which ensures that the clutch needs minimal travel to separate reliably. With the plates expanding very little when hot, the bite point does not move and remains well defined. With the additional plates the clutch transfers torque without losses. The kit comes complete with a clutch cover spacer and a clutch puller and in the four or five plate version. The 2019 version differs from the previous version in some details. For example, the outer basket is now lighter, the inner basket has additional spring seats and a thread to use the standard clutch puller. Both the material and the design are intended to make the parts even more durable. In addition, the 2019 clutch now features an optional polygon interface instead of the traditional cone and woodruff key. This can only be used in conjunction with the appropriate input shaft.
