for Vespa PK50-125/?S/?XL/?XL2/?ETS CNC aluminum flywheel: 1390g 20/20mm/ 24/25mm cone, M12 12 magnets 12V, DC 110 watts 9 coils M12 mm static ignition point SIP has managed to get the assistance of a major European manufacturer, VAPE, for the production of these high-end ignition systems for our beloved Vespas. The materials, production and construction of the SIP PERFORMANCE ignition systems are of the highest quality. The laser-cut logo is a good indication of the overall clean and efficient production of the components in this kit. The electrical functions are representative of modern state-of-the-art technology. Due to the eight coils included on the stator plate, enough power is generated at full throttle to fully light up the Vespa lighting. We have both AC and DC versions and recommend the DC type if you want to power digital components such as the SIP speedometer or if you require a high battery charge. The CDI module is available as a 'Road' version with a static ignition point, similar to the original item, or a 'Sport' version which includes a variable ignition point which advances at low revs. This increases the available torque, especially at the bottom end, and the ignition point is gradually retarded as the revs increase in the power band. This also helps to reduce the combustion temperature whilst simultaneously providing an increase in the rev range. The pick-up on the stator plate is split in two and arranged on top of each other instead of next to each other as with the original design. This eliminates the possibility of false positioning during initial setup due to the careless manufacturing tolerances included in many Vespa engine cases, crankshafts, stator plates and flywheels. The exact ignition point is clearly marked with a precise line on both the flywheel and the stator plate, which allows for exact positioning during assembly and eliminates the need for a strobe light. One of the major advances achieved is the production of the fly / fanwheel unit as a single component, avoiding a riveted internal mounting cone and uneven rotation. This significantly reduces engine vibration and significantly extends the life of the flywheel side crankshaft bearing. The fanwheel is CNC machined from solid aluminum and supplies an identical volume of cooling air to the cylinder as the original PIAGGIO PX 125 and PK items, throughout the entire rpm range. The amount supplied by most aftermarket ignition systems is easily exceeded by our design, without impeding higher engine speeds. The flywheel intended for the small frame Vespas weighs 1300 gr. and for the large frame 1600 gr., making them both significantly lighter than their original counterparts. This mainly improves throttle response, but leaves the engine easily manageable in city traffic and while carrying a passenger. Our SIP-VAPE flywheels are 100% compatible with the original flywheel remover type.
